Британское издание DailyMail представило фоторепортаж из сирийского Хомса. Этот третий по величине город страны был одним из оплотов оппозиции, ведущей войну с президентом Башаром Асадом.

После месяца боев Хомс практически пал, однако большая его часть превратилась в руины. Часть 650-тысячного населения Хомса покинула место ожесточенных боев, а повстанческим силам нанесен серьезный удар.

Хомс занимает стратегически важное положение между столицей Дамаском и береговыми районам, через него проходят главные дороги, поэтому его потеря может стать фатальной для противников действующего президента.

Ранее правительственные войска выбили противника из двух других крупных городов страны – Талкалах и Кусейр.
